I was commissioned by Little, Brown Book Group to design the cover for Yara Rodrigues Fowler’s literary novel, There Are More Things.
The story follows Catarina and Melissa, two young women whose lives unfold between Brazil and England before converging in London. Catarina, the daughter of a prominent left-wing family from Olinda, arrives in the city in 2016 to pursue a PhD. There, she meets her new flatmate, Melissa, a South Londoner of Brazilian descent. As their friendship deepens, the novel immerses us in their interior worlds—their daily rhythms, relationships, and the spaces they inhabit. From university lecture halls and activist meetings to the bustling streets of Tottenham Court Road and quiet evenings in their shared kitchen, the narrative paints a vivid portrait of two lives intertwined.
In my cover design, I sought to reflect the novel’s rich interplay of cultures, capturing the fluid connection between Brazil and the UK.
